Engine & Transmission

The Yamaha YZ250 comes with a 249cc single-cylinder, two-stroke engine with reed valve induction. The two-stroke unit is compact, lightweight, and it uses a liquid cooling system. It is equipped with a 38 mm Hitachi Astemo Keihin PWK38S carburetor for fuel induction. It also gets a power jet and throttle position sensor that delivers an accurate air/fuel mixture to the engine. The YZ250 is mated to a close-ratio 5-speed transmission that works smoothly and it features a heavy-duty multi-plate clutch. It also gets an updated air-intake design that provides a more efficient air draw.

YZ250 Top Speed, Horsepower, & Performance

This quarter-liter motocrosser comes with the Yamaha power valve system like its smaller sibling the YZ125. It also gets specially designed carbon fiber reed-valve petals that improve the engine performance across the entire rev range. The YZ250 power output is claimed to be around 49 hp, however, the brand has not disclosed its torque figures. It uses a liquid cooling system and it also gets a CDI ignition system with digital advance. The Kawasaki KX100 is equipped with a 6-speed return shift-type manual gearbox and it gets a multi-disc manual clutch.

Top Speed & Performance

The KX100 2-stroke powerplant comes with an exhaust power valve system that gives it a broader powerband. Kawasaki has not disclosed the power and torque output of this motocross yet. Its single-cylinder motor offers appropriate power that bridges the gap between mini and full-size dirt bikes. The Kawasaki KX100 top speed is claimed to be around 68 mph. The top speed may vary depending upon the riders’ weight and riding conditions.

Body & Suspension

Talking about the chassis, the Kawasaki KX100 utilizes a perimeter-type frame with subframe members. Its frame is lightweight and made out of high tensile steel like the Kawasaki KLX 110R. It gets a 33 mm inverted telescopic front fork with 20-way compression damping. The KX100 is fitted with a Uni-Trak gas-charged rear shock absorber with a piggyback reservoir. The rear suspension comes with an adjustable preload and it allows 24-way compression and 21-way rebound damping.

Brakes & Wheels

Kawasaki has equipped the KX100 with a powerful set of disc brakes on both wheels. It features a 220 mm petal disc brake on the front wheel and a 184 mm petal disc brake on the rear wheel. Its front disc brake comes with a 2-piston caliper, while its rear disc brake comes with a 1-piston caliper. The Kawasaki KX100 gets a 19-inch front wheel and a 16-inch rear wheel. Its front tire size is 70/100-19 and its rear tire size is 90/100-16.

Dimensions

This motocross from Kawasaki is quite light and it weighs around 169.7 lb in ready-to-run condition. The Kawasaki KX100 seat height is 34.3 inches. You get a ground clearance of 13 inches on this motocrosser. Its fuel tank capacity is 1.32 gallons and it has a wheelbase of 51.6 inches.

Kawasaki KX100 Price & Competition

The price of the Kawasaki KX100 in the United States starts at $4,649 for the Lime green color variant. Currently, the KX100 is the only 2-stroke motorcycle in the 100cc segment and it has no direct competitors. However, its indirect competitors are the Honda CRF150R, 2024 KTM 125 SX, & Husqvarna TC 85.

Kawasaki KX 65 Review

The KX 65 is built on a sturdy semi-double-cradle frame. The frame is made up of high tensile steel tubes like the one on the KLX 140R. It is equipped with a 33 mm leading-axle telescopic from forks that offers four-way rebound damping. The Kawasaki KX 65 gets a Uni-trak rear shock absorber with fully adjustable spring preload and 3-turns rebound damping. This motocrosser has a curb weight of 132.2 lb and its fuel tank capacity is only 1.0 gallons. The Kawasaki KX 65 offers a high ground clearance of 12 inches due to its tall seat, which is 29.9 inches high.

The Kawasaki KX 65 comes with a single-cylinder, 64cc, 2-stroke engine. It gets a 24 mm Mikuni carburetor system for fuel supply and its 2-stroke motor is liquid-cooled. This motocrosser power output is claimed to be around 17.03 hp. It gets a full-size 6-speed gearbox that allows young riders to access a wide range of powerbands. It also comes with a wet-type, multi-disc manual clutch. The KX 65 top speed is nearly 51 mph which may vary depending upon various riding conditions. It features a 14-inch front wheel and a 12-inch rear wheel. This motocrosser from Kawasaki relies on 180 mm disc brakes with a 1-piston caliper on both wheels for braking duties.

Kawasaki KX 65 Price and Variants

Kawasaki has launched this entry-level motocrosser in only one color option this year. The price of Kawasaki KX 65 in the United States starts at $3,899.

Competitors

The Kawasaki KX 65 faces stiff competition in the 65 cc motocross segment from popular brands. It competes with the KTM 65 SX, Yamaha YZ65, and Husqvarna TC 65. Taking the price point into consideration, the KX 65 is the most affordable one here, while the Husqvarna TC 65 is the costliest with a price tag of $5,499. The YZ65 is priced at $4,699 which makes it significantly costlier than the Kawi.
