The Yamaha YZ250 comes with a 249cc single-cylinder, two-stroke engine with reed valve induction. The two-stroke unit is compact, lightweight, and it uses a liquid cooling system. It is equipped with a 38 mm Hitachi Astemo Keihin PWK38S carburetor for fuel induction. It also gets a power jet and throttle position sensor that delivers an accurate air/fuel mixture to the engine. The YZ250 is mated to a close-ratio 5-speed transmission that works smoothly and it features a heavy-duty multi-plate clutch.
