Yamaha TW200 Review

Engine & Transmission

The Yamaha TW200 is powered by a 196cc single-cylinder, four-stroke, SOHC engine. Its engine is air-cooled and it comes with 2-valves. The fuel delivery duty is taken care of by a Mikuni 28 mm carburetor. This motorcycle gets a maintenance-free CDI ignition system that ensures a reliable spark. The TW200 is linked to a 5-speed constant mesh transmission and a multi-plate wet clutch. Its smooth 5-speed gearbox with a manual clutch provides smooth shifts. It comes with a push-button electric starter that offers reliable and easy starting in all weathers. Yamaha has also used an internal engine counterbalance in this motorcycle’s powerplant that reduces vibrations and provides a smooth ride.

Yamaha TW200 Top Speed, Mileage, & Performance

The single-cylinder engine of the TW200 is torquey and it delivers engaging performance at all rpm. The torque-rich engine offers strong pulling and delivers strong low & mid-range power. The Yamaha TW200 makes 16 hp of max power at 8,000 rpm and 15 Nm of max torque at 7,000 rpm. The power delivery on this dual-sport motorcycle is perfectly suited for both tarmac and trail riding. Yamaha claims a mileage figure of nearly 78 mpg for this motorcycle which is quite impressive. The Yamaha TW200 top speed is nearly 72 mph.

Body & Suspension

The Yamaha TW200 looks quite interesting and appealing. Yamaha has used a compact and lightweight frame for this entry-level dual-sport like the Yamaha TT-R230. It also gets a lightweight box-section swingarm that is linked to the rear shock absorber. The TW200 is equipped with a 33 mm telescopic suspension at the front and a single rear shock absorber at the rear. The front suspension provides a wheel travel of 6.3 inches and the rear suspension provides a wheel travel of 5.9 inches.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block; text-align:center;" data-ad-layout="in-article" data-ad-format="fluid" data-ad-client="ca-pub-6481306595990408" data-ad-slot="8709779862"></ins>

Brakes & Wheels

For braking, this dual-sport motorcycle relies on a 220 mm disc brake on the front wheel and a 110 mm drum brake on the rear wheel. Yamaha has not provided any safety features like CBS or ABS on this bike. The Yamaha TW200 rolls on an 18 inch spoke rim front wheel and a 14 inch spoke rim rear wheel. Unlike the other dual-sport bikes in this segment, the TW200 features a 180 mm wide fat rear tire that gives it an aggressive look and provides great traction.

Dimensions

The Yamaha TW200 has a curb weight of 278 lb and it has a fuel tank capacity of 1.8 gallons. It has a wheelbase of 52.2 inches and offers a ground clearance of 10.4 inches. The high ground clearance allows it to tackle any kind of off-road trail. It has a seat height of 31.1 inches and its caster angle is 25.8°.

Yamaha TW200 Price & Competition

Currently, Yamaha sells this entry-level dual-sport motorcycle in only one variant and color option. The Yamaha TW200 price in the United States starts at $4,799. It competes with Kawasaki KLX 230, Honda CRF250L, and Honda CRF250 Rally in the entry-level dual-sport segment. As of now, only the Kawasaki KLX 230 is available in the united states and it also carries the same price tag as the TW200. The Honda CRF250 twins are available in some Asian markets only.

Yamaha XT250 Review

This dual-sport bike features a 35 mm telescopic front suspension. It gets a monocross linkage type rear suspension with adjustable preload and rebound damping. The front suspension has 8.9 inches of travel and the rear suspension has 7.1 inches of travel. The Yamaha XT250 comes with a 245 mm front disc brake and a 203 mm rear disc brake. It gets a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel.

The Yamaha XT250 comes with a 249cc single-cylinder, SOHC, 4-stroke engine. It uses the Yamaha fuel injection technology and it gets a 5-speed transmission. Its reliable four-stroke motor offers smooth and responsive power. This dual-sport bike has a maximum power output of 19 bhp and maximum torque output of 19.98 Nm. Yamaha claims the fuel economy to be around 76 mpg and it gets a 2.6 gal fuel tank. The Yamaha XT250 top speed is nearly 78 mph and it offers smooth power delivery in any riding condition. It gets a fully digital LCD panel and a powerful halogen headlight.

Updates

Yamaha has not given the new XT250 any major updates for the year 2024. Even the paint scheme is the same as the older version.

Yamaha XT250 Price and Variants

This dual-sport motorcycle comes in only one model and it gets only one color, Radical Grey. The price of XT250 in the united states starts at $5,199. It carries the same price tag as the older gen model.

Competiton

The dual-sport quarter-liter segment is filled with great options from the other two Japanese giants. The XT250 competes with the Kawasaki KLX250 and the Honda CRF250L. The price difference between these three bikes is minute which makes it really hard to choose the best one among these.

Conclusion on Yamaha XT250

The XT250 is one of the most affordable dual-sport bikes in the 250cc class. Yamaha has not given it any mechanical or cosmetic updates for this year’s edition but it still remains relevant. Its potent single-cylinder motor delivers smooth performance and good fuel economy. Features like a digital panel, electric starter, and disc brakes make the Yamaha XT250 more convenient.

Conclusion on Royal Enfield Himalayan

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is one of the best-selling bikes in the entry-level adventure segment. It comes with a rugged and robust design that helps it sail through rough terrains. Its single-cylinder engine is powerful and offers reasonable performance. It has a decent fuel economy that gives it a longer touring range. The Royal Enfield Himalayan top speed and cruising speed is a little downside as it starts to breathe out after 55 mph due to the lack of 6th gear. But overall it offers a great package for the price you pay.
